I like how you are bringing together all the ideas we discussed as a group.
In the first layout I am worried on how the selection screen transitions into the selected screen and then how to navigate between other classmates from there. As far as layout goes it seems it needs a sense of unity between icons. I like the placement of items, just how to get between them is the tough part.

The second layout also seems grided well. Where is the character selection part? I see you are starting to integrate the use of tabs and i think I like that. Though it may be neat seeing that incoorperated in the first layout with the classmate selection still present.

sarah.

i really enjoy the design of the first concept...I think that the second design (although not as resolved visually) has better elements in the navigation, tabs, consistent placement of titles etc.

Is there a way you can keep the consistency of the second design and the design of the first.

Also, I was quite intrigued by the first page layout...to be honest it was my favorite overall. It was clean and to the point.

Be careful that you don't separate things into too many little boxes and frames. Maybe someting crosses over and begins to add some depth.

You might look at this site for more inspiration to push the collage idea.

little additonal information...

in the first design...maybe you can add alittle more of the home (fromt page) grid in secondary pages...even in the form of graphic elements...1point white boxes overlaying the pic to suggest the frst page grid?

Hey Sarah,
I love the first layout. Good Type and layout overall. I love the unity of your concept, it is works well and is really simple. I guess i really dont understand the whole location feature, but I guess that must be a group thing seeing as Matt has it also, I'll be interested to see what thats all about.

I really like the first layout. The only thing that confuses me if how to get from click two to click three without confusing the audience with all of the location changes, but i'm getting less confused the more I look at it. I really like your grids and organization as well. While the second set of layouts makes a lot of sense with organization and grid, I still am drawn to the first one...great job sarah!

the colors used in both designs are very nice and soothing, and helps unify all the information being thrown at us. i like how the first layout looks a little better, but i guess i am a little confused on people who aren't in the first column (trevor, me, down that line.) would they just move everyone over as to keep the same grid, or would each column have its own specified grid? you could always end up shrinking all of the images so that you only have two columns instead of five, if you find this is a real problem. second question: i see a few sets of icons on the bottom right. i get the first row because i know they pertain to you, but is the bottom row from other people?

overall, you did a nice job bringing a lot of different elements together to have a similar color and style.

Sarah, your design concept seems very developed. I like how there is a sense of cohesion among the different layouts. I also like the way you allow the user to view people. I think that you could do more with the type. Perhaps you can have some type going over the edges of the pictures. I'm not sure if that makes sense but it seems like your design is very compartamentalized. It would be interesting to see you break your own rules and going over into another space.

hey sarah, I am liking your second layout, and I'll tell ya why. I like how the navigation is more noticable. In the first layout, it seems to be stuck at the bottom, but the second has it right in the midst of the action. Less confusing. And the white type on that black, with your head right above it. I'm thinking mugshot. Maybe you could go with that. It kind of looks like one of those black felt boards that you can change the lettering on. Know what i mean? maybe you could stagger the lettering and such to make it look different for each person.
